Singapore is Western Australia’s seventh largest source of merchandise imports. Western Australia imported A$2.0 billion of goods from Singapore in 2018-19, with the top imports being refined petroleum oil, residual petroleum products, and edible products.

Singapore is Australia’s ninth largest source of foreign direct investment (A$28.0 billion in 2018), while Singapore is the fifth largest destination for Australia’s direct investment abroad (A$24.4 billion in 2018).

From Singapore, Western Australia had 104,000 visitors in 2018-19 and 1,400 students in 2018. For Western Australian tourists, Singapore is the fifth most popular overseas destination, with 55,000 Western Australians visiting Singapore in 2018.

Western Australia has a growing Singaporean community. In 2016, 2,500 Western Australian residents had Singaporean ancestry and 15,000 were born in Singapore.

The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation supports Western Australia’s investment and trade with Singapore through its Singapore Office, which was established in 2012.
