Vietnam is Western Australia’s 21st largest source of merchandise imports. Western Australia imported A$331 million of merchandise from Vietnam in 2018, with the top imports being crude oil, furniture, and monitors and projectors.
Western Australia had over 3,000 visitors and over 1,700 students from Vietnam in 2018. For Western Australian tourists, Vietnam is the 10th most popular overseas destination, with 21,000 Western Australians visiting Vietnam in 2017-18.
Vietnamese people reside in Western Australia. In 2016, 22,000 Western Australian residents had Vietnamese ancestry and 16,000 were born in Vietnam.
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation supports Western Australia’s investment and trade with Vietnam through its Singapore Office, which was established in 2012.
