• StudyPerth to equip ambassadors with skills to advocate for international students and improve their employability post study

The program is part of a long-term State Government strategy to attract more international students to Perth, which will help improve Western Australia's economy, contribute to the community and create more jobs.

A group of 10 international students were today named as the program's ambassadors at the Council of International Students Australia annual conference in Perth.

Each will be tasked with helping the State Government and StudyPerth to position Perth as a first-choice study destination.

The ambassadors will also raise awareness about the social and economic benefits that international education brings to Western Australia.

To do this, they will write blogs and social media posts; facilitate question and answer forums and attend social business events, where they will discuss the benefits of international education.

Each ambassador will be provided with training in public speaking, networking, social media skills and storytelling.

"The development of the International Student Ambassador Program is one of 16 initiatives in StudyPerth's Action Plan, which outlines how international students can live, learn and launch their future selves in Perth's environment.

"Apart from the economic benefits international students bring to Western Australia, they bring a cultural richness and help us build links with other countries.

"These links help build partnerships that can lead to trade relationships that are beneficial to both.

"Each of the 10 students will commit six hours each month, during the 18-month program, to engage with people face to face, in forums and via social media and talk about the benefits of studying in Perth."
