The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority is building the infrastructure to transform the cosmopolitan face of Perth, linking the central business district with the Swan River and the entertainment and arts precinct in Northbridge.

Elizabeth Quay, one of the city’s major projects, has 1.5 hectares of promenade space linking a series of public parks and spaces around the new inlet to the island. The promenade and public domain will be complemented by new shops, restaurants and entertainment. The construction of the inlet is complete and forms the focal point for Elizabeth Quay, which is a key component of achieving the objective of re-establishing the connection between the city and the river. The public area around the waterfront inlet is now available for public use and will create an estimated 400 jobs, office space for 10,000 people, 800 residential apartments and 25,000sqm of retail space.

Perth Airport, which services 17 major international airlines and 12 regional and domestic carriers, has undergone a $750 million redevelopment to transform it into a first-class freight and logistics hub.

These infrastructure developments present significant investment opportunities in the hospitality, commercial, retail and entertainment sectors.

Underlining confidence in Western Australia as a tourism destination is the number of projects being developed by international investors and hotel brands, both in the central business district and key regional centres, including the Ritz Carlton in Elizabeth Quay.
