Premier Mark McGowan today unveiled three coal stackers and a giant reclaimer which have been constructed using 3,500 tonnes of locally fabricated steel at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC).

The launch marks the completion of thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions' biggest fabrication and construction project ever undertaken in Western Australia and has created local jobs and helped in diversifying the State's economy.

Over three years, the $100 million project has generated more than 400 local jobs in design, supply, construction and commissioning of the equipment.

The equipment is due to be shipped to its new home in New South Wales - as part of the Port Kembla Coal Terminal restoration and compliance project.

Weighing more than 1,490 tonnes, the reclaimer will be the heaviest piece of machinery ever loaded onto a ship in a single lift at the AMC, when it makes its maiden voyage later this month. 

thyssenkrupp is the only contractor in the country that does end-to-end design, fabrication, procurement and construction of mining machinery within Australia and is now looking to recruit skilled professionals and construction workers on the back of a strong project pipeline.
